Education through film, for a generation learning to see the world differently.
Astra Film Junior is Romania's largest documentary film education programme. Since 2007 it has brought true stories from every corner of the world into cinemas, chosen to make children and teenagers think, feel and ask more.
The programme is built around three age groups — 6+, 11+ and 15+ — so that every child meets films suited to their stage. After the screenings it continues with discussions led by specialists, workshops in creative writing and filmmaking, and the comic strip competition, all meant to turn a viewing into a lesson in curiosity, empathy and critical thinking.
Year after year, tens of thousands of pupils from Sibiu and across the country come through this programme, making Astra Film Junior one of the largest cultural education experiences in Romania. Now in its 18th edition, it keeps the same mission: to show children that the real world can be as gripping as any invented story.

Children become young directors: starting from films seen at Astra Film Junior, they tell an original story in a hand-drawn storyboard.

You are coming with a class. Pick a screening from the programme by age group, book the whole group in a single order, enter your pupils' artwork in the competition, and request the certificate for your school's records.

A pupil's ticket costs 15 lei, and pupils on social scholarships or with disabilities come in free. Companion tickets are generated automatically, according to the size of the group.
