The End of the Internet
Is the internet a tool or a weapon? How did it come to be dominated by a handful of tech giants and turned into one of the most powerful instruments of political manipulation? And can global networks of hacktivists succeed in reclaiming it as a free and open platform?

Film Details

The technology behind the internet is often invisible and hard to grasp—just like the power structures that control it. Hidden in the shadows, they continue to shape our lives in ways we don’t immediately see. This documentary follows a global movement determined to change that: the push for decentralization of the internet. Its members believe the problem lies in the infrastructure itself—in the fact that digital power has become concentrated in the hands of a few corporations and governments. Their solution? To rebuild the internet so it is truly free and fair for everyone. The film takes us to unexpected places where this struggle comes alive: an anarchist squat in Berlin, an Indigenous village in Brazil, a garage in Miami, a church in northern Spain, and even a dystopian landscape in Taiwan. At the same time, it revisits the history of the internet, highlighting key moments when decisions were made that altered the course of our digital world.
