Riley grew up in a Mormon family with strict rules and religious constraints, and he only realized after getting married that he was actually gay. He decides to get a divorce and marry the man he loves. He has a daughter with his ex-wife, with whom he maintains a friendly relationship, and an adopted son. Those around him judge him, but try to come to terms with reality.
