Ship
After more than 160 years of existence and numerous magnificent ships that sailed from its facility, the Pula shipyard “Uljanik” became a graveyard of abandoned workshops, steel wrecks and unmovable cranes. In this post-apocalypse landscape, which today is inhabited by loud seagulls, half-starved cats and crayfish, we are caught up with the emotional testimonies of former workers.

Film Details

After more than 160 years of existence, Croatia’s largest shipyard is closing, leaving behind a desolate industrial landscape and a sense of nostalgia for its former glory. Uljanik was once the pride of Croatia’s maritime industry, but now it has become a graveyard of abandoned wrecks and equipment. As we explore this post-apocalyptic landscape, we hear stories from former workers about the times when the shipyard was a symbol of the community and a part of the collective identity. Elvis Lenić, the filmmaker, reveals his personal connection to the shipyard, where several members of his family worked. His project carries symbolic weight, serving as both a tribute and a farewell message.
