Astra Film Online continues the experience of the festival recently concluded in Sibiu, with a selection of festival documentaries available throughout Romania until 8 November. Six award-winning films from AFF 2026 are part of the online programme. The Astra Online Pass costs RON 150 and provides access to 30 films. Find all the details on the website: https://astrafilm.ro/festival/online.
Until 8 November, Astra Film Online gives viewers the opportunity to catch up on films they were unable to see in Sibiu or discover documentaries they missed in the festival programme. The selection brings together personal stories and investigations, with films about society, war, family, identity, artificial intelligence and the ways individual choices intersect with the major changes shaping our world.
Award-winning films from AFF 2026 to watch from home
The online selection also includes six films recognised by the juries of Astra Film Festival 2026:
A Train Passes Every Day and It Never Stops (Romania, 2026), directed by Vlad Petri, Award for Best Documentary in the Romania Competition.
How to Talk to Lydia (Georgia, Germany, 2025), directed by Rusudan Gaprindashvili, Special Mention in the Romania Competition.
If Pigeons Turned to Gold (Czech Republic, Slovakia, 2026), directed by Pepa Lubojacki, Award for Best Documentary in the International New Voices Competition.
Days of Contemplation (Finland, Denmark, Norway, 2026), directed by Karin Pennanen, Award for Best Director in the International New Voices Competition.
From Dawn Till Dusk (Spain, France, 2026), directed by Xisi Sofia Ye Chen, Special Mention in the International New Voices Competition.

The freedom to choose what to watch and when. One pass, 30 films
The Astra Online Pass costs RON 150 and provides access to 30 films included in the pass. That works out to exactly RON 5 per film. Viewers can plan their own viewing schedule and choose documentaries according to the time they have available and the subjects that interest them. The other titles in the online selection can be purchased individually, directly from each film’s page.
To help viewers who are not sure where to start, the organisers have arranged the Astra Film Online selection into thematic groups. From “Romanian Realities” and “When Injustice Is the System” to “War Beneath the Skin”, “Women Keep the World Standing”, “The AI Invasion” and “Fathers and Sons”, these themes offer different ways into the programme. Viewers can start with a subject that matters to them and discover films they might not have chosen based on the titles alone.
The platform also offers a simple way to find a film based on the time available and the viewer’s mood. You can choose a short documentary, a film for a full evening, or let the selection surprise you. Altogether, the 35 films amount to almost 38 hours of viewing, so it is worth getting started today to make enough time for all the films you would like to see, the organisers say.
The full programme and details about the films and access are available on the festival’s official website: https://astrafilm.ro/festival/online
