Bamberg, 1630. A young physician discovers that the witch trials terrorizing the city conceal a ruthless struggle for power. To save the woman he loves, falsely accused of witchcraft, he must challenge a system built on fear.
Returning from Vienna for his father’s funeral, physician Cornelius Weinmann finds his hometown of Bamberg consumed by fear and superstition. After treating the prince-bishop, he becomes entangled in a conspiracy in which witch trials are used as a weapon against political rivals. When Johanna, his childhood friend, is accused of witchcraft, Cornelius defies the authorities and risks his own life to expose the abuses of a system sustained by terror and manipulation. Inspired by true events, the film reconstructs an era in which fear becomes a political instrument and the truth can come at cost of a life.
