A famous Dutch psychiatrist attempts to rebuild his relationship with his son, a comedian who transforms painful childhood experiences into performances. In the process, he discovers how difficult true unconditional acceptance can be.
About the film
The film follows the encounters between the two men, backstage at the performances they create together and in their everyday lives, as they try to understand a past marked by distance and absence. For Bram, confronting his own history also means accepting the limits of his role as a father and as a mental health professional. For Fimme, comedy becomes a way to explore difficult memories and make sense of the experiences that have shaped him. An intimate portrait of a father-son relationship in which love, judgement and the need for recognition remain in a fragile balance.
