Jurre in the Netherlands
Jurre in the Netherlands. Time for Fun! 13’
At his father’s side, an architect and landscaper, Jurre, eleven, discovered the joys of nature early on. Despite this, his favorite activity when he comes home from school is to take care of the garden that his father has created. With his blue work outfit on, his boots and his tools, Jurre looks like the perfect gardener. He transplants the trees, waters the flowers, moves gravel with a small tractor and even helps his neighbors bring in the cows. Jurre can do everything! Indeed, gardening is more than a pastime; it is a vocation. Later, he wants to become a landscaper like his father, or a farmer so he can drive the gigantic agricultural machinery he is so already fascinated about. Jurre is interested in nature, the works of Vincent van Gogh and painting in general. The range of pastime activities of the young Dutch clearly emphasizes the importance of doing all of them out in the open air.
