Don’t miss out at AF Cinema: Homme Less
What secret could lie behind the story which has all the ingredients to become successful? Homme Less (directed by Thomas Wirthensohn), the film that reopens the Astra Film Cinema program in 2017 – on Thursday, February 16th, at 7 PM – digs deep into the underbelly of the American dream, of which no one speaks. Ever!
Homme Less introduces Mark Reay to us, a former model, currently a New York street fashion photographer and an amateur actor with small parts in American blockbusters. He is present at every high-life event in New York, where he knows everybody, and young models seem an easy pray for him. Apparently, he has a fabulous life and he’s living the American dream! There is, however, one detail that doesn’t fit this “glamour” puzzle. Although he lives in Manhattan, the most luxurious neighborhood of the city, his “house” is actually a tiny corner up on a roof, near a few power cables, with a tarp as a blanket.
Mark’s motto – “Pursue happiness, but be prepared to live your nightmare!” – sums up in just a few words the inner turmoil he is faced with and the continuous alternation between short moments of joy and professional gratification, when he mimics the fact that he has a successful life, and moments when he’s in a deadlock, feeling lost and hopeless, a homeless man wandering around the streets of the big city. Withensohn’s film demystifies the American dream with humor, sadness and honesty and he easily goes from the extravagant universe of fashion to the bleak reality of the street, without missing out on the corners where amazing life stories lie hidden.
One ticket is 6 lei. Tickets are available 30 minutes before the screening at Astra Film Cinema (Piața Mică 11, Sibiu). For further information, call: 0751.166.516
